The Foundation Day of the Symbiosis Institute of International Business, Pune (SIIB) was celebrated on 10th July, 2010 with a “Naad-Rang Concert”- An Indian classical music concert. Director Dr. Rajani Gupte welcomed Pandit Arvindkumar Azad, the renowned tabla maestro, and other accompalished artists who graced the function. Pt. Arvindkumar Azad is one of the senior-most disciples of the great Tabla maestro of the Benares Gharana, 'Tabla Samrat' Padmavibhushan Pt. Kishan Maharaj. The musical journey commenced with a soulful tabla solo by Dr. Azad accompanied by Mr. Sangeet Mishra on Sarangi. The elements of spontaneity and improvisation were inseparable in Pt. Azad's Tabla rendition. It was followed by Taal Vadya Kacheri - a rhythmic conversation between all leading classical & folk music percussion instrument. The artists were all disciples of Pt. Azad who held the show with a mesmerizing performance. The last performance was the Djembe recital - A South African rhythmic instrument. The audience was spellbound with the charisma of the artists and the students even gave a standing ovation to the performers. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Purandare in which he thanked Dr. Gupte and the members of the SIIB family which made it a huge success.
