On June 2, 2025, the Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB) warmly welcomed the incoming MBA batch of 2025-2027 with a grand Induction Program held at the SIIB Auditorium. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. S.B. Mujumdar, Founder and President, SIU; Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Pro Chancellor, SIU and Principal Director, Symbiosis Society; Dr. Ramakrishnan Raman, Vice Chancellor, SIU; and Dr. Rajani Gupte, Advisor, SIU. The program was further elevated by the distinguished chief guest, Mr. G.S. Selwyn, Executive VP – Rolls-Royce in India and MD – MTU India, and guest of honour, Mr. Atul Jindani, Senior VP at Marsh McLennan India and SIIB alumnus from the batch of 2003-2005.

The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp—a tradition symbolizing knowledge, enlightenment, and the beginning of a new academic journey. Dr. S. B. Mujumdar addressed the gathering with his signature warmth and wisdom. Reaffirming the Symbiosis philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (“The world is one family”), he encouraged students to embrace diversity, inclusivity, and a global outlook. He spoke about how one’s alma mater plays a lifelong role in shaping both character and career.

Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar emphasized the increasing value of soft skills, decision-making capabilities, and strong professional networks in a fast-evolving business environment. She urged students to take ownership of their academic and personal growth over the next two years.

Dr. Ramakrishnan Raman delivered a dynamic and insightful address, urging students to cultivate critical thinking and communication skills that remain vital even in an AI-driven world. Introducing the “Energy-Focus Matrix,” he challenged students to be intentional and purpose-led. His interactive activity served as a powerful metaphor for readiness and opportunity.

Mr. Atul Jindani, a proud alumnus of SIIB, reflected on his own journey and shared the wisdom passed on by his mentor: “Keep commitment at the centre and expectations at the periphery.” He encouraged students to maintain long-term vision and curiosity, and spoke about how his global perspective, built at SIIB, gave him an edge throughout his career.

Chief Guest Mr. G.S. Selwyn inspired the audience to reflect on two powerful questions: What is your hope? What do you want to achieve? His address focused on authenticity, resilience, and adaptability. He reminded students that staying curious, learning from failure, and leading with values are essential in a constantly changing world.

Dr. Alka Maurya, Director, SIIB, concluded the session by highlighting the importance of skill development through credible sources and the value of building strong professional networks. Her emphasis on self-awareness and relevance in learning resonated strongly with the new batch.

The induction programme concluded on a high note, filled with inspiration, clarity, and a strong sense of purpose. It served not just as a formal welcome, but as a launchpad for personal and professional transformation over the next two years.
