The Orientation Programme for the Batch 2025–27 at the Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB) was held from 2nd to 7th June & 23rd June 2025, marking the commencement of a transformative academic journey for the new cohort. The week-long event was meticulously curated to integrate students into the ethos, academics, and vibrant life of SIIB. With the presence of esteemed dignitaries, faculty members, alumni, and industry leaders, the programme offered a blend of motivational speeches, academic briefings, team activities, and interactive sessions, setting a solid foundation for the two-year MBA voyage.
June 2nd, 2025
Briefing by Dr Alka Maurya, Director, SIIB – The orientation began with an inspiring address by Dr Alka Maurya, Director, SIIB who outlined the MBA journey ahead, emphasizing the expectations from students in terms of discipline, participation, and continuous learning. The briefing also highlighted the importance of developing both academic and professional competencies, while offering insights into career planning and placement preparation from day one.
Session on Know Your Faculty by the Head of the Department on Finance, Marketing, HR, IT, International Business, and SCM – This session served as a formal introduction to the academic heads from core specializations. Each faculty member began by briefly introducing themselves, including the subjects they teach, their research areas, and relevant professional experiences. They then provided an insightful overview of their respective departments, touching upon current industry trends, key challenges, and emerging career opportunities. Students were encouraged to explore domain-specific clubs aligned with their interests, offering avenues for hands-on learning, peer collaboration, and industry exposure. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A segment, where students interacted directly with the faculty to clarify academic expectations and better understand various specialization pathways.
Briefing by the IT Department – This session aimed to familiarize students with the campus’s digital infrastructure. Students were guided through steps to access the centralized WiFi network, register their devices, and navigate the internal portal. Emphasis was placed on the use of smartboards within classrooms to enhance digital learning. The IT team was introduced and students were assured of technical support throughout their academic journey.
Session on Knowledge Resources at SIIB by Ms Sarika Agale, Library In-Charge – The library briefing focused on orienting students with SIIB’s academic resources and facilities. Students were made aware of the process for issuing library cards, borrowing and returning books, as well as accessing journals, e-books, and research databases. Library timings for weekdays and weekends were communicated for convenient access. Students were also reminded of the consequences related to damage or loss of materials, emphasizing responsible academic conduct.

Briefing by Col. S.K. Mishra, Campus Administrator at SIC – Under the guidance of Col. S.K. Mishra, Campus Administrator, SIC students were guided through SIC’s facilities, hostel life, and the student support ecosystem. The SAGE model (Socialising, Associating, Governing, Experiencing) was introduced as a cornerstone of campus adaptation.
Address by Prof Dipen Paul, Dy. Director – Prof. Dipen Paul, Dy. Director walked students through SIIB’s academic vision, PEOs, the credit and evaluation system, the CBCS framework, and mentorship avenues involving faculty, alumni, and senior peers.
Briefing by the Administrative Officer at SIIB– Mr. Yogesh Kalbhor, Administrative Officer at SIIB, conducted a comprehensive session covering key operational policies and procedures. Topics included hostel regulations, night attendance mandates, academic attendance requirements, fee payment guidelines, and protocols for hostel leave approval. The institution’s disciplinary policies and student code of conduct were clearly explained. Additionally, students were briefed on laptop specifications required for coursework and provided with points of contact for administrative support.
Team Building Exercise- This activity was Conducted by Prof. Shekhar Manelkar, faculty member from the HR department where students participated in a dynamic Prisoner’s Dilemma simulation, promoting collaboration, strategic thinking, and trust-building.

Session on Gender Sensitization by Ms. Renuka Mukadam, POSH and DEI Consultant and Trainer – Ms. Renuka Mukadam conducted an engaging session on workplace ethics, highlighting the importance of professional etiquette, respectful communication, and inclusive behaviour in organizational settings.
Session on College Health Education Program (CHEP) – The College Health Education Programme was conducted by Dietician Samruddhi Katti, Dietician-In-Charge focused on promoting health awareness, balanced nutrition, and stress management, guiding students to maintain overall wellness during their MBA journey.
Session on Internationalization- Ms. Manasi Joshi, Head of International Collaborations – Mobility Programs, introduced students to global engagement initiatives and opportunities through exchange programs such as Semester Exchange, Winter & Summer School, Semester Abroad, and Study India programmes at partner universities.
Session on Coursera– Mr. Mahesh Kolisetty, Success and Strategic Director, Coursera emphasized the value of continuous learning through digital platforms like Coursera, encouraging students to upskill and stay industry-relevant in the evolving digital economy.
Session with SIIB Alumni on “The SIIB Advantage: An Alumni Perspective” – SIIB hosted a panel discussion with alumni from the batches of 2002–2004, featuring Mr. Priyanshu Gaurav, Executive Director at Nuvama Private; Ms. Saumya Agarwal, Senior Associate at MSCI and Mr. Amit Agarwal, Corporate Strategy Consultant & B-School Trainer. The session was moderated by Ruhi Gore, a student of SIIB, MBA-AB programme, Batch 2024-26. The discussion offered valuable insights on navigating the MBA journey, highlighting the importance of teamwork, soft skills, professional networking, and learning beyond textbooks. Alumni emphasized trusting the process, embracing challenges, and making the most of campus opportunities.
Outbound Activity Briefing – Mr. Yogesh Kalbhor, Administrative Officer briefed the students on the upcoming outbound residential tour, outlining the fitness requirements, schedule, and learning objectives of the experiential programme.
June 5th and 6th, 2025
Outbound Session – SIIB organized an outbound learning session for the Batch of 2025–27 at Surya Shibir. Students and faculty assembled early at the SIC campus, setting off for the venue with music and dancing that built excitement for the days ahead. The first day included energizing activities such as Zumba, yoga, and collaborative games like the egg drop challenge, designed to encourage creativity and teamwork. On the second day, students undertook a six-kilometer trek, pushing their physical limits while bonding with peers. The two-day experience fostered camaraderie, leadership, and experiential learning, further enriched by motivating talks from alumni and guests on the importance of continuous growth—setting an inspiring tone for the students’ MBA journey.

Online Session on Learning with Cengage – MindTap – The team of Cengage publication House, Mr. King Fenu, Sr. Commissioning Editor at Cengage and Mr Onkar Dudhane, Area Manager at Cengage introduced the students to Mind Tap which is online learning platform. The students were introduced to a personalized online learning environment offering interactive content, real-time tracking, and digitally enriched course material.
Online Session on Learning with MH Connect (McGraw-Hill Publications)- The session on MH Connect (McGraw-Hill Publications) was conducted by Ms Mansi Negi, Client Engagement Lead, McGraw-Hill where she familiarized students with the e-learning platform features, such as smart assignments, interactive quizzes, e-books, and automated grading systems to support academic learning.
Session on Academia-Industry in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Young Indians (Yi) – The session by Mr. Yogesh Desai, Director, Perennial Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Pratyush Sinha – Founder & Chief Vision Officer-Atomium Labs, Mr. Rohan Turior – Founder & Managing Partner, INNOIPS, in association with CII – Young Indians (Yi), offered students a global perspective on evolving industry dynamics, the role of young professionals, and stakeholder engagement in business.
Briefings on Committees, Academic & Cultural Clubs – The faculty introduced the Batch of 2025–27 to the diverse range of clubs and committees at SIIB, highlighting their role in developing leadership, networking, and practical skills beyond academics. From core committees like the Corporate Relations Cell and Alumni Relations Team to academic clubs in marketing, finance, HR, supply chain, and entrepreneurship cell as well as cultural clubs centered around music, dance, theatre, and social initiatives, students were encouraged to participate actively. These platforms provide a holistic experience that fosters both personal growth and professional readiness.

Session on Nurturing Innovation Incubation Ecosystem at SIU – This session by Dr Sapptarishi Ghosh, Chief Executive Officer, SCEI introduced students to the entrepreneurial ecosystem at SIU, highlighting the resources available for nurturing innovative ideas. It covered support mechanisms such as incubation centers, mentorship, funding opportunities, and the university’s commitment to fostering student-led startups.
Session on Intellectual Property (IP) Rights- The session on Intellectual Property Rights by Dr Anand Shindikar, Head-Intellectual Property, SCRI educated students on the significance of legally protecting their innovations. It covered key concepts such as patents, copyrights, and trademarks, encouraging students to safeguard their ideas and creations while pursuing entrepreneurial or research initiatives.
