On June 12th, 2024, Mr Ajay Prakash Mishra conducted a guest lecture on ‘Unleashing Your Navigator’ for the Batch of 2024-26. The session addressed the importance of planning, networking and the development of communication skills.
The session started with Mr Ajay Prakash Mishra giving a brief introduction about himself and his life journey from being a student at a vernacular school to a successful trainer. Despite initial struggles with communication, he excelled academically at SIIB and overcame his challenges through perseverance.
His career took him to various countries, and he held a senior position at Adobe, where he realised that many professionals faced similar communication issues. Driven by a passion for teaching, he left his job at the age of 36 to work on his passion. Mr Mishra emphasised the importance of gratitude and shared cherished memories from his time at SIIB, inspiring students to navigate their paths with determination and positivity.
Later, he shed light on how the world is dynamic and changes are the only constant, but instead of fearing those changes, we should adopt those changes with hope. He shared his experience of graduating from SIIB in 2007, during the crippling recession, yet noted most of his batch mates are leading a successful life.
Moving ahead, he questioned students about their clarity goals, encouraging them not only to explore but also to formalise goals. He recommended having a monthly meeting with oneself to track their progress. He emphasised the importance of persistence in the face of challenging goals.
Lastly, he highlighted the value of differing opinions and varied priorities in life. Also, Mr Mishra guided the students to realise the importance of networking and understand that networking isn’t just about sending connection requests on LinkedIn, but it’s about nurturing meaningful relationships.
He concluded the session by teaching the importance of maintaining an attitude of gratitude throughout one’s journey. His final message was one of perseverance, continuous self-improvement and the significance of fostering genuine connections.
